AutoNation Q2 earnings drop by a third

AutoNation Inc. said today that its bottom line took a beating after a 15 percent drop in new-vehicle sales caused second-quarter profits to slip by a third. The dealership group said it earned $51.8 million in the second quarter, down from $77.

Daimler cuts earnings outlook, shares plunge

Daimler AG cut its 2008 earnings outlook today, saying it would not be able to offset a global growth slowdown, rising raw material prices and the strong euro by selling more vehicles and cutting costs.

Ford to revamp lineup after $8.7 billion Q2 loss

Ford Motor Co. said today its operations lost $1.38 billion in the second quarter as high gasoline prices drove consumers away from its big trucks. The company earned $258 million during the same quarter of 2007.

Aside from the usual attractions at the shows, the Wheel Concept Auto and Bike event brought out some of it’s celebrity power with the likes of the New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, as well as ex NBA great, Jerome Williams, as well as some of the industry…
